As a reality TV Producer, I think this is one of two things; 1. This was a pick up interview shot days/weeks later. In the original interview Andrew could have been crying and now in the pick up interview where he's asked to wear the same clothes and pretend it's being recorded at the same time, he tried to recreate the emotion he felt at the time when it was raw. The producers used that against him to make him look "fake". OR 2. He was set up by production. He probably wasn't a favorite of theirs since he does come off braggidocious and he may be a know it all or someone who just doesn't make a producer's job easy, so they felt okay/justified making him look bad. They could've told him to recreate the tears and then made it seem like it's his idea.

AS A REALITY TV PRODUCER, I actually think this cast member is more innocent than not in this scenario.

"I don't wanna be racist by assuming he's smart"😂😂😂.

It's funny because when I first watched it, I thought he was trying to make his eyes not look red so he wouldn't seem to be as upset. Like oh I'm upset but not devastated. I wasn't crying a lot.

I just realized he was wearing a blue suit when he was in the pod with Nancy but the interview after the pod scene he was wearing a red suit! Makes me wonder how much later it was after the rejection that Andrew decided to fake cry like that

I feel like he was trying to cover up tears with eyedrops so it looked fake, but he was actually crying and felt embarrassed. It worked clearly, as most people say he was faking it.

i always just interpreted the eyedrop moment as him making a sort of joke to point out the inherent fakeness of reality tv shows. like he does it to make it a point that a lot of the stuff we might see on LIB is just pre-planned and him using eyedrops to make himself look sad in a matter of seconds. sorta like social commentary but within the show itself? lmao

When I saw it I thought he wanted to hide his tears by adding the eye drops and that he felt embarrassed that’s why he’s laughing

The Dr. Honda look of disbelief/disgust at 8:20 had me cackling!

I never got all the excitement over these "fake" tears.

Dr Honda I NEED you to react to Netflix’s new reality show “Perfect Match”!!! It brings back people from previous casts (love is blind, too hot to handle…) and I would love to hear your take on everything that happens, specially Francesca’s mindset and behavior 😅

I think Andrew could be annoyed with the show, and how seriously they're taking themselves, so he's making a joke of it even though it didn't feel good to get rejected. Which would explain the show airing this entire part because they feel disrespected, and his not attending the reunion, because he didn't like the experience, and feels there's nothing to gain but reputation damage.
I kinda thought it was funny 😬 and at this stage in my life I might do something similar if I felt I'd honestly tried to participate in something so ridiculous, and then got rejected.

I feel like production lied to him.
I know someone who has severe chronic dry eye. They told me that the tears your body makes from crying are very irritating and it’s good to flush them out with drops. Anyway, I just really get the feeling Andrew was manipulated into this. I like that you give the benefit of the doubt Dr Kirk.

It's possible that production encouraged him to recreate his original emotional reaction for the camera.

Someone suggested he was trolling :) Maybe! Nancy was deffo on point, but what I found interesting is that he meets those couples later at the resort or whatever he is different - he's no longer calm and collected, acts spontaneous and seems nice or even warm. So maybe he was trolling after all! Or he's a charming narc!

Andrew was trolling. Big time. Only explanation that would make sense to me. He didn’t take the show seriously and wanted to be funny.

I think the producer played dumb with that "if your eyes are hurting you" because they knew it would be fun to show the whole uncut scene to get people talking

For me the tears looked like a joke, i was actually surprised that people took it seriously.

I think he really thought that the producers would edit that out. It isn't unheard-of for people to get unfairly good edits on this show (Shake), so I think Andrew was just naive in how much he trusted them. It does show major over confidence though, to think that nothing bad/unflattering could happen to him.

I feel you Dr. Honda, at the beginning I was thinking he had to use drops because he cried so much his eyes were dry, I didn't pick up at all the fake crying option 😂
