Why just 'solving problems' doesn't work in Competitive Programming!

I get it now, you solve problems to train yourself for contests. The contests are the thing, the problems help you win them.

What if i can't even solve medium ones lol. Besides, sometimes i do solve medium problems with some basic methods as I'm a newbie, though my code is sooo shit that the submission program does not even understand it
