My Dad is back there playing bass. He was Roy's bandleader and business manager for 20 years and they remained close friends for life. I can tell you that Roy practiced constantly. For instance, when he and his wife would join us for holiday meals, he'd bring a guitar. He'd go find a chair and just start practicing. He could carry on conversations while practicing. He was that dedicated to making sure his audience got what they were expecting. He never took a day off. It meant the world to him to be his absolute best. Thanks for sharing.

A reporter once asked Eddie Van Halen what it was like to be the greatest guitar player of all time and he said I don’t know you’d have to ask that question to Roy Clark

I saw him in Las Vegas in 1980. He played a few songs then stopped. He stiod out in the front of the stage. He then pointed to the house band. He asked the audience to give them a big round of applause for making him look fabulous. He introduced each band member by name. Thats classs.

Known Roy since '67. A total master on any guiter, bass, fiddle, or banjo, ever! AND, a super nice guy!

Roy Clark is one of the greatest guitar players the world has ever known. The man was amazing. Another to look at is Glenn Campbell.

Roy was a friend of my Dad's. He would stop by sometimes when he was in the area. He was the absolute best musician I have ever seen. You could always tell when he was getting as fast as he could play. His tongue would stick out. RIP Roy.

"Bless their hearts!" is a Southern expression. I grew up hearing it from family, and still say it myself today.

R.I.P. Roy Clark. You are greatly missed but never forgotten. One of the all time great County Western Singer's Song writers and the musicians.

What I heard about Roy Clark is that he was a genuinely kind man, that he believed his talent was a gift from god, and he said he felt connected to god when he played. Maybe that's what his expression was about when he closes his eyes. 🥲☺️ Just filled with joy! Good for him! ❤

Roy Clark is one of the few musicians who can absolutely OWN a 12-string guitar...and can make it do whatever the heck he wants it to do.

2:42 I’ve always considered Roy Clark one of the top all time best guitarists, and banjo player but he’s fantastic on so many instruments. He up with the Jimmy Hendrix crowd as far as pushing an instrument to unheard of feats. They can make instruments play in ways that shouldn’t be possible !

Remember when he was on the Beverly Hillbillies ? Jethro was his Agent and had him dress up and billed him as Blue Boy Roy.

A true artist. Closing his eyes meant he was feeling every note he played. Such a classic.

Another super under rated guitarist...Glenn Campbell! Roy Clark & Glenn Campbell teamed up on some awesome guitar duos.

I remember Roy Clark on He Ha . He was so fabulous! Our family always thought of him as the highlight of the show. What an amazing talent.

You go anywhere below the Mason-Dixon Line and you will hear "Bless Your Heart" all the time. Roy passed away in 2018. He was one of our greatest guitarists. Roy does sing. Check out "Thank God and Greyhound" and "Yesterday, When I Was Young".

Up until the day he died, Roy had forgotten more about playing the guitar than most people will ever learn.

He was not only very funny and friendly, but also one of the world's greatest guitarists. He was fantastic in concert. A very great legend!
