I totally relate to what he is talking about. There are things going on in this world that we cannot see but only feel. The closer you get to "the light" the more you can recognize the darkness. There are forces in this world that do not want people close to Jesus. This is very real and it is not a mental condition. We live in a duality.

great and holy man. he is revealing the inner struggle that most people today deny even exists. as a catholic i can truly appreciate the sanctity of this monk. I pray that catholics and orthodox can stand shoulder to shoulder in the battle against Satan. Christ needs us to fight together not against one another.

I love this video. Here is a brave and humble foot soldier of the Church, fulfilling the commandments of God, the first being, as our Lord said, to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. In the US, we are all culturally Baptists: we take a vividly colored, multidimensional world and we pretend that we live in one or two monochrome dimensions. It is false, or, to put it more charitably, not the fullness of truth. This video reminds me of Saint Joseph the Hesychast's account ( I think in a letter of his; the story comes up in the Elder Ephraim's biography of him also) of seeing a vision of a raging battle between the monks and demons, and the angel guiding him asking him if he is willing to go to the very front lines, with "one or two others" to fight the demons (St Joseph says yes). Second, I think of the story of the Elder Melchizedek in "Everyday Saints" who dies and sees the Mother of God, who shows him all his excellent handicrafts for the Church in a ditch as refuse. She says what her Son has wanted all this time is prayers. The Elder comes back to life and immediately requests to be made a schema monk, so that his whole life becomes prayer and nothing else. Those who don't know Orthodoxy don't understand that while all of us are called to unceasing prayer (do they even know this?), for these monks and hermits on the Holy Mountain-- this is their vocation, the way we are lawyers, doctors, contractors, etc. who spend our working hours in our fields. This monk's job is prayer for himself and the world, and it is crushing and will crush anyone trying to do it unless, as he says, you humble yourself and realize your total dependence on God.

... I am sure most people think he is nuts but what transpires in this video IMHO is a deeply complex view of reality . I think some of the questions are a bit leading and cynical, and this man walks right by them; without an ounce of guile he humbly infects you with the grace of the Almighty’s presence...
