You should NEVER see the Gelato!!!! If you can see it it's a no go. GELATO SHOULD BE Real Italian Gelato shops have their Gelato in deep metal tins with lids.

Proper gelato places will often pile their gelato scraps from the last box onto the new one to save money and be more efficient^^

Italian here. The difference between the gelato kept in metal tins with lids and the one presented in this video is that the one kept under a lid last longer. Usually semi-industrial gelato is kept in tins woth lids because its look is not as good as the one shown in the open containers, because it laks in air.

This is a very big generalisation, if you go to towns that don’t even get any tourism besides a few people a year you will still find bubblegum flavour. Kids like it, including Italian kids.
Americans 🙄

My cousin she married an Italian guy. Really good guy I really like him. He is from Sicily and he is a chef 👨‍🍳
At their wedding they had a little ice box where everyone could just scoop their own little ice cream 🍦
They had vanilla flavor ice cream and normally I go with chocolate but this day… vanilla was my flavor of choice. It was sooo good I nearly emptied the whole ice box. It was insane 😂
Good memories at that wedding 😊

Funny because the real deal is always in metal containers so you can't even see the color. In my country you only see ice cream like she showed in malls, every little ice cream place makes ice cream by hand and the flavors change everyday to keep things fun.

You can get gelato in the frozen section of your supermarket, gelato is just the translation of the word icecream, fresh icecream is just as good in italy as in every part of the world

That's not true though. I am Italian and I grew up in a city not very touristy, and most of the gelaterie had the gelato "puffo" ( which is Smurfs in italian) and that was CLEARLY for children! So the fact that it has some "weird" flavor doesn't really mean it's a bad gelateria, It just means that it creates tastes for everyone 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
Really the only factor you should consider when you want to buy some gelato is the prices. If they ask you €4 for just one flavor, then run away cause they are overpricing you.
The general rule though is " always find a place outside of the city center" and it is also useful for restaurants and so on

No, vanilla is not a good flavor in Italy. Fior di latte is, it’s milk. Milk flavor. Or yogurt. Vanilla uses fake powder many times. It’s not a main flavor
