The Most Unsafe Car (2017)

The passenger compartment of the 2017 Fiat Punto remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger but structures in the dashboard were thought to present a risk of injury to occupants of different sizes and to those sat in different positions. Protection of the passenger's chest was rated as marginal, based on dummy readings of compression. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of the chest of the rear passenger was weak, and that of the neck was marginal. Protection of the driver was good or adequate for all critical body regions. In the side barrier test, chest protection was rated as marginal, based on rib compressions. A side pole test was not performed as the Punto does not have a standard-fit head protecting airbag. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated poor whiplash protection in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of the rear seats indicated marginal whiplash protection.

wtf is this, I have Grande Punto from 2006. , it has 8 airbags, ABS, ESP, it scored 5 stars when it was launched 2005, and it was one of the safest cars in class. whats the point of testing a car which design and architecture are 13 years And this one only has two airbags, during the side impact side curtains did not activate... Pointless and stupid...

The Punto is not "unsafe" In it's current guise it has fallen way behind modern standards. When tested in 2005 is was highly scored with a maximum 5 stars. The model in this test doesn't have curtain airbags but the main thing that would have pulled it's score down is the lack of active safety features like "Lane Assist" or Fiat's "City brake" system. Hopefully Fiat will pull it's finger out and replace the Punto ASAP :)

In 2005 Grande Punto crash test (5 stars) model used for testing had side airbags, but in this case, model used has not. Why?? Ough! dashboard was secure in 2005 but not in 2017... what happened. This is clearly a manipulation to obligate FCA to retire this model from market. The Euro Ncap is a manipulation itself.

well when this can was launched back in 2006 it had a 5 start rating so that means it's pretty safe to everyone it got such a bad rating becouse it's lacking modern tech like lane departure warning blind spot monitoring etc

What's the point of crash testing an older model? Is it for people to look away from the Volkswagen emissions scandal perhaps? Even a moron realizes that this car looks pretty solid from a safety point of view! On the latest Yaris side crash test, although the side curtain airbags deploy, the dummy on the rear seat behind the driver seat misses it completely... and the Punto gets no stars?...

Punto is a car planned in 2004, is normal the crash test failed: it has only two airbags! FCA has to plan a new model!!
