I asked a Quebecois-Moroccan couple about this biggest culture shock between their two cultures. How do they feel about physical affection? Family values? Gender equality?

Look at him. Typical "traditional" men.
The problem is that the overwhelming majority of these kind of men (who insist that they pay) are think that women are less than them (as you can clearly hear in the video).
So ladies out there, what is more important to you, treating you equally or buying you things?

PS.: Have you noticed that he cherrypicks among traditions?

Separate him! He sees you as inferior and for him is not official as his family doesn't know about you

I'm French and have been with a Moroccan man for over eight years, and we now have a little baby. We're super happy! Despite our big cultural differences, we made it work because we instantly clicked and loved each other. My Moroccan husband is the kindest person I know—genuine, giving, and caring.

I've dated many European people before (living in Amsterdam as a French person, I'm exposed to many expats and cultures), but I've never seen such kindness and generosity from European men or people in general. Yes, there are cultural differences, but that doesn't mean you can't be open-minded. Think twice before assuming your culture is the best. You can always choose what works for you in your relationship. It doesn't have to be your way or his way. In the end, no matter where you come from, you're still two different people with different personalities, passions, and hobbies. Relationship life taught me that it's all about compromise, whether you're from the same country or not.

Regarding equality, it's true that men and women are different, both emotionally and physically. This doesn't mean a woman is treated less than a man; they're just treated differently, with different obligations. I was surprised when my husband told me that in Islam, what belongs to a woman is hers only, but what belongs to her husband is for the entire family. Pretty unfair now... for the man! 😅 But it makes sense now that I'm caring for our little one (he's 10 months old and still beings breastfed), with no desire to return to work for the next year or so! 🥰🥰🥰

My advice: don't be afraid of differences. Open your mind and heart without biases, discover them, and enjoy what works for you! Remember, your culture isn't the best; it's just what you've been taught your whole life!
