I come from a die hard catholic family and even I realized Jesus never actually existed when I was younger. Long story short I'm big into physics and Quantum Physics. All religion in the world are all man made mythology.

Jesus is here with us today, I saw him down at the Supermarket, he was buying some bread rolls and a can of sardines.
He must want to feed the multitude again so gather at the lakes shore for a free lunch.

The mental gymnastics that must be perfomed by people who live with one foot in the ignorant 1st century and the other in the 21st century using science and technology 24/7

He existed - he was running a doomsday cult, preaching about how his father was coming back before his generation ended. He was there to save the Jews, and no one else. Think about it, if Jesus' teachings were that important, he would have had a scribe walking around writing everything down. It wasn't until 80 to hundred years later, that the followers realized he wasn't coming back and started retconning the religion into the Christianity we know today.

The crazy thing here is that the Gnostic Christians which FAR predate the gospels understood the Jesus figure as a spiritual concept and metaphor far more like a Buddha or Pagan figure. He was never some guy that walked around doing miracles to them, but a transcendent figure whose purpose was to make one look inward and seek self knowledge (again more like Buddhism).

Christian orthodoxy and its associated stories that were more accessible to “simple folk” eventually became the official word and subsequent Christian’s stamped out the gnostics as heretics even though the gnostics predated them.

Don't forget that neither of the birth stories make a lick of sense.

Like, the first one requires a Jewish King to basically declare war on his own, famously vengeful, god by deciding to assa.ssinate his own Messiah.

Meanwhile, the Census of Quirinius story is arguably even less feasible, since it involves Rome telling people to go to the home of their Xth generation ancestor (at a time when nearly nobody was literate enough to read records of who their own grandparents were), which is not only exactly the inverse of what a census is supposed to do (namely, figure out where everyone is right now, so that they can tax and allocate resources accordingly), but would absolutely destroy the entire Roman economy by having everyone whose family has moved since the time of King David drop what they are doing to walk back to their ancestral hometowns (nevermind that if you are able to track your lineage back that far, you could have qualifying -parents- fathers all over Eurasia and Africa) with any extremely pregnant barely teenaged wives they might have following along.

And let's not forget that Jesus allegedly had at least one sibling. To the sects that believed that Mary remained a Virgin her entire life, that means that those siblings were from the much older Joseph's previous marriage(s?), but those siblings are never mentioned in either story.

This channel is amazing!
This kinda reminds me of scientist debunking Christianity with good ol' fashioned logic.

Yes, he did, I met Jesus in Neverland when I went for dinner with Peter Pan and Wendy and Captain Hook, and damn, there was Jesus!

Had a godly drunk on, rum from the bottle, singing "Sixteen men on the dead man's chest, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum" until he passed out. In the morning he left with a nasty hangover riding away on a talking unicorn.

Most important: What if he existed? No difference, people. Existence does not proove anything that is told about him in any way. It is no proof for anything. I exist, so I am the leader of the world? No, two different things, not connected in any way.

I wonder if the original creators of the Jesus myth ever even expected people to take them literally.

They had recording equipment to record accurately all dialogue said by Jesus, then, pass them on to the Gospel writers who wasn't there

I'm an atheist, so I approach this video unbiased. I saw nothing in your video that argues against the view of the majority of non-religious schoolers in the field. That is, that a man that Jesus of the bible is based on *_probably_* did exist. All you are arguing is that the Jesus of popular mythology didn't exist. There's no real doubt about that outside of religious academia.

Maybe he never existed, but that does not change the fact that mankind desperately needs people like him.

Thank you for making your videos easy to understand. I try listening to a few scholars but they use a lot of words i have no idea what they mean. This channel is easy to understand and gets straight to the point while providing the facts. Its also very entertaining and a lot of humor. Thank you.

As a Muslim we believe in Jesus(pbuh) but not in the same way as Christian’s we Muslims believe Jesus(pbuh) was a Prophet and Messenger of God

This proves one of two things: either the Bible is metaphorical and is really talking about the human body or just a collection of texts over the years compiled into one book for whatever reason one likes to believe..

Whether he existed or not weighs about as much on me as as being asked if Tom existed . I don't give a damn.
