Lunar Loo Challenge: NASA searches for toilet that will work on the moon

As NASA prepares for an eventual return to the Moon, researchers are hard at work trying to solve a major problem for astronauts - using the toilet on the lunar surface.

During the Apollo missions of the 1960s, astronauts used vacuum seal bags which seems like an afterthought and led to some interesting transcripts.

Now NASA is looking for a toilet that will work not only in microgravity on the International Space Station but also on the moon itself and is offering US$35,000 in prizes to design the toilet through its Lunar Loo Challenge. Mike Drolet has the story.

Centrifugal force seems like the most obvious thing to build on, after hearing that it needs to work on the ISS. If it only had to work on the moon, that would make it easier

To make a toilet that works in canada and even australia or the moon, there should be some fabrication of required gravity, therefore, if you placed a toilet at using a pendilum or something causing 360 degree rotations, or with a disgusting vacuum manifold sytem with a very careful set pressure valve because you dont want to mess that up really, then you should be good to go. A septic field could be created, though it would require the introduction of other lifeforms from our planet, as unfairly as that might sound to the moon.

Use suction hoses that will suck the waste into space when they sit on toilet call the toilet suction relief or loki or legion

No way to create the file needed. So here's a text version free to the public. A connection peice to the front or back. Uses suction either manual or electric. A correctly sized tube. Like a reversed needle in action. Pull string or mechanical. Replaceable of course. Could even be used in an space suit. Or as intended a support toilet if something malfunctions. Could be made for hikers or military on earth even with a biodegradable tube. Sorry for the grammar. Hope you win.
