When Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April 2021 at the age of 99, the United Kingdom went into a period of national mourning – or at least, it was supposed to.

According to reports by The Telegraph, government staff members at Downing Street held two separate parties on the evening prior to Prince Philip's funeral, seeming to defy both national coronavirus lockdown protocols and the period of national mourning.

Now, commentators are taking shots at the government for the perceived slight, with much criticism falling upon the head of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

Johnson was not in attendance at the parties, but for many, that seems irrelevant. Here's why Boris Johnson is in hot water as new details emerge about Prince Philip's funeral.

Sometimes say sorry isn't enough since we know he only apologized because they got found out. The queen looks so frail. 95 years is really getting up there. I still find it hard that Harry is in California and not spending her last years with her. She was very close to him. He broke her heart. Life has a way of coming around full circle. One day Harry will look back and be sorry for not being with her. It's sad 😔

I must stand in solidarity with my Royal family and support the proposition that the British Prime Minister and the staff attending the subject social gathering either resign or be dismissed from their posts and further that either Parliament be dissolved and England return to being an absolute monarchy or, at the very least, England maintain its constitutional monarchy but as a co-equal government wherein Parliament and the Monarchy wield equal power and act to check each other's potential abuse of power.

I tend to favor the latter option. My opinion is my personal opinion and is not my official position as the head of government, Kūhina Nui Kuikāwa or Prime Minister pro tem of The Royal Hawaiian Monarchy government of The Hawaiian Kingdom.
