World's ice is melting faster than ever

As global temperatures increase, the melting of the massive ice sheets that blanket Antarctica and Greenland has accelerated, making a significant contribution to sea-level rise. In total, Earth is losing around a trillion tonnes of ice each year – which is not being replenished.

Andrew Shepherd of the University of Leeds is a leading climate scientist working with ESA and @NASA. Join Andrew as he discusses how long-term satellite observations from ESA’s Climate Change Initiative are key in monitoring changes in ice sheets over decades.

It's so sad, the science and data prove the demise, yet there are still so many who outright deny it, not based on facts, but based on their 'feelings'. With so many out there that don't give a rats ass, I feel this will harm not only humans, but so many species.
Still, thanks for telling the truth.

What an informative video! And only 459 views, , , doesn't that say it all!
But thank you and your excellent production team!

Antarctic ice sheet mass loss is about 90 Gt/yr (Otosaka et al, 2023). It's total mass is 24 million Gt, so it loses less than 0.0004% of its mass annually. It contributes 0.36mm to sea-level rise per year (that's pitiful). At the current rate it will take well over ¼ million years to melt, but we are due for two more glacial periods in that time. The ice is here to stay.

and no one is doing anything about because it doesn't make money. once the resources have all been depleted and we have massive pollution issues, what else will be exploited for money ?

SOMETHING MUST HAPPEN THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS

Our planet is getting close to having 20 billion people on it. If every man, woman, and child plants just 1 tree each, we may be able to slow down the climate change phenomenon. Plant trees where the density of trees is at the lowest.

Once it has gone, what do we do then? We need fresh water.

Someone should probably do something about this...

Faster than ever on a planet 4, 550, 000, 000 years old? Ice melted during the Medieval Warm Period, advanced during the Little Ice Age. As it has done for billions of years and always will.

Restoring the Polar Caps.

If we make new freight Containers of 12x12x12, they have a Volume of 1728 m³ each (equal to 1728000 Liters of Water). If you place 1000 of these new Containers in the colder areas of the polar ice caps and fill them with seawater. Can Nature freeze these containers filled with seawater within a few hours? This process can therefore generate approximately 1728, 000, 000 kilos of ice every Day. On an annual basis this is 365 x 1728 000 000 and equals 630 720 000 000 Kilos of ice. In other words, 631 Gigatons of Ice.

More than the annual ice loss.

The melting ice water that flows into the ocean must therefore be sealed and collected, and then frozen again. Otherwise, the aforementioned is 'carrying water to the sea'.

SINCERELY,

LUV YOU !

What if all the ice goes into the sea?

actually, a progressive increase in the rate at which glaciers melt is expected behavior as temp rises and ice melts. it's logic, not science. the fact that details like this one are purposefully ignored is unethical and alarming.

Its vanishing in my generations "let's try & do what we can". Yep I've stop fishing for the last 30 years & don't find this a issue. Let's everyone make effort in our daily walk & clear out mess on this Earth World I've also started praying for creations the snake cat dog worm bird Pola bear penguin yep this I been praying about Earth World & all in it for the last 25 years. I encourage ourselves let's "step in & sort this climate change & change it for better"

Well, move inland because nothing is going to stop this. I prefer the mountains anyway.

Data shows an increase in ice mass so where are you getting your info from because its so wrong
