Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This YouTube channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!

I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.

I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!

On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

To me the best thing about the Opus is the fact the Jaws Raw will be cheaper now

Here's an alternative - for the price of two wedges you can buy Dan Grieve's book, enroll in Dan Grieve's online class, and find a local pro for two private lessons. Go learn technique with whatever hardware you currently have in your bag.

230 quid for a wedge, golf club makers are now taking the piss

Put all the tech you want into a wedge but a wedge is like a paint brush, only as good as the artist wielding it.

It's now getting beyond a joke with the prices the big companies are charging. This is where Kirkland are exposing and taking advantage of the gap in the market of affordable and really good equipment. I'd take 3 Kirkland wedges over 1 overpriced wedge all day long. Golf is now becoming a snobbery, "What's in the bag?" PXG realised they were alienating a huge market and reduced their products and they got better and sold more. Callaway, Taylormade, Ping are becoming the old PXG.

I like that you've taken on feedback to do some testing outside as well as inside on the sim.

I’ve never hit a brand new wedge that didn’t spin like crazy. The question is how durable are the grooves. Will I need to replace a 230$ wedge after 3 months?

I'll stick with tokomo, I get 2 wedges for every one opus, and I'm not good enough to know different.

The Opus won me over this year after testing all the new offerings

Incredibly overpriced. Kirkland really shined a spotlight on these golf companies overcharging for their products. It doesn't look good for them!

Expensive? Yes but if we compare it to a driver or a fairway wood that most golfers use less times than their wedges, then the price makes sense and much easier to stomach. Short game reduces more strokes than a driver that cost 3 times as much. Well worth the investment to me.

I love the grounded reality of this channel!!!
Retirement took a toll on my finances, but with my involvement in the digital market, $47, 000 weekly returns has been life changing. AWESOME GOD❤️

When i started 5 years ago, i bought a set of 3 ram wedges for 60 quid. 52 56 and 60. Ive lost the 56 and 60, but the 52 is still in my bag, and id rather hit that than my mizuno pw. Ive had backspin with them and shots from 90 yards stop dead. Would be super interested to see you test them out :)

Yeah I’ll be buying a discounted Jaws wedge. They’re so satisfying to hit, these can’t be much better to justify that price. I love Callaway but that’s nuts.

The regular opus are $179. Pretty comparable to all of the other brands. I bought the black set in 52, 56, 60 and replaced my Jaws wedges. Immediately noticed more spin and better balance. Much better look and shape. I’m sure price difference of the platinum is partially due to the value of tungsten as well as marketing not wanting them too close in value. Would rather spend the money on wedges than the $600 drivers the big brands drop every year.

If you think *that's* overpriced, wait until you see the new TItleist GT line of woods! Woof!

Interesting results but would’ve been nice to see more of how they reacted out on the course.

You could balance any wedge or club for that matter to your liking. Watch Trottie do fittings at The Kingdom and he fits every professionals clubs to the same exact swing weight that they prefer. Not only are the professionals way better than us, their equipment is built better.

Rick - *hits 200 sand shots*
Club - minor scratches and small amount of paint/finish missing
Rick - you know, im not really happy with this, for $150 you'd expect it to always be pristine.

You can't really complain about price anymore after you did a 2000 pound putterfitting... 😄
