Many countries engage in programs to 'deradicalise' violent extremists or act to prevent them from going down the terrorism road in the first place. So what happens when other extremists show up seeking to recruit those being helped? In light of a case in Australia Borealis reflects on his own experience when a jihadi came to town.

About the host Phil Gurski:
Phil is the President and CEO of Borealis Threat and Risk Consulting Ltd. and Programme Director for the Security, Economics and Technology (SET) hub at the University of Ottawa’s Professional Development Institute (PDI). He worked as a senior strategic analyst at CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) from 2001-2015, specializing in violent Islamist-inspired homegrown terrorism and radicalisation.

Kids like that are looking for belonging, pride, to fit in, so they adopt into that culture which gives them a greater sense of purpose, the ultimate motivator.
Give them another purpose, and some sort of rite of passage to build self confidence.
Horse training camp, woodworking camp, automotive camp, etc.
