If a 2 week notice was a requirement by Law, employers would also have to give you a 2 week notice when fired.

I gave my two weeks, then after the first week I found some things out that has made me feel more undervalued than I ever have. I gave this company 110% for the last five years. I just quit this morning with one week left of my two weeks. If you're in a toxic work environment and it's negatively affecting your mental health you DO NOT have to stay, nor should you. I should have left long ago but I waited till I literally couldn't take it anymore and was in the dark depths of full blown depression. It's scary leaving a job, I get it. However, let me tell you even though it was scary it was the best desicion of my life. I can already feel my mental health inclining. No job is worth your mental health and nobody should make you feel as undervalued as I felt.

I find it hypocritical that employers require/would prefer a 2 weeks notice when they never give the employee a 2 weeks notice before they’re fired. It’s arguably more impactful to the employee to lose their job than for the employer to find a replacement in time. i say just quit.

When a job screws your over at every opportunity, cuts hours during Christmas time, makes conditions hard to work in, and makes an unsafe work environment knowing that employees will get hurt/can’t make money to feed their families and still gives bosses 6 figure bonuses. I don’t think they deserve a 2 week notice

If you are generally young and you have a post high school or college job don’t put 2 weeks I guarantee you no one expects a 18-25 year old to stay at job like that for long

The last time I gave a two-week notice the boss dumped piles upon piles of work on me, enough for three or four people. He took complete advantage of me and made my last two weeks hell even though I didn't miss a single day in a 2-year period. Never again, you can take that reference and shove it where the sun don't shine. I'm not going to postpone my mental health and happiness just to kiss the ass of an employer who doesn't even give a crap about me

Corporations are not your friend. They can fire you anyday. I say it all depends on the boss. If the boss is toxic I say screw the 2 weeks notice. That's why if you need reference you can always put your friend's names. Plus some companies don't even care about that.
