I saw the Khasi tribe women running local shops to medical stores and even liquor shops, it's all about girl power in Meghalaya, the women run the show!

Men move into the bride's home after marrying the youngest daughter. Oh and there's no dowry system either- just pure respect for women and their role in society.

I come from a small village called Kharipada, located 80 km away from Nashik district in Maharashtra. The people in my village aren't very literate, and I am the only teenager pursuing higher education. Despite this, one thing I’m incredibly proud of is their strong understanding of women's rights. A few years ago, when a young woman from our village was ab**usaed and murdea**red, the entire community united and pressured the police to arrest the perpetrator, even though he was a political figure in the area. It was a powerful display of justice and solidarity that I'll always admire about my village.

There is no dowry system in all tribal communities, but in some tribal communities, the groom's side gives it to the bride's side. And I think women get more respect in tribal society than in other societies.
