I love how easily and clearly you explain everything. It's also great that you add in the conversions for KG and Celsius.

Dude thanks! Just got my baby leopard gecko, first time ever owning a lizard! Your videos have guided me through everything I needed to know! Bought my lil guy a 30 gallon tank and immediately did the topsoil instead of the thrive starter kit I was goin to buy, but because of your video I knew that carpet will cause more harm than not! Thanks bro!

Thank you so much for this, I’ve always used coconut fiber but I just don’t think it’s the best for reptiles. It works great for my tarantulas and my hissing roaches, but that’s about it. I use topsoil for my green anole and my millipede and have previously used it for my quails (though I had to stop because the smell was too much because my quails shit way too much) and I’ve also never sanitized topsoil. I’ve always used Scott’s topsoil and I get the one with no fertilizer and manure so I’ve always just assumed it’s safe enough. I definitely can’t bake it in my apt since I have a roommate. I’m definitely planning to make this mixture for my leopard gecko soon!

These videos are so helpful and informative. Thank you for sharing cost efficient alternatives. I can’t stress it enough how brand name products jiff you out. You’re a gem in the community 🫡

i just picked up two beautiful leopards, they are used to go on sand, but the previous owner did ALOT of effort into making sure it isnt the ultra fine sand that would get in their lungs or make them eat too much of it.
had them for 3 days as im writing this, and in a few days more im gonna make their house sweet and clean again.
i plan to use a mix like this but keep it more sandy in their toilet section
cant wait to see them actually beginning to dig more around now that its not JUST gonna be sand, ive noticed one of them likes to dig a little hole and then curl up in it next to their toilet corner - so i cant wait too see how creative they get once they get the opportunity to REALLY make some burrows and small tunnels to chill and sleep in <3
EDIT: and also watching the progress of them being scared ( not panic, just walks away with a mood because now the stupid hand got here without food again lol)
to coming out if they are awake and tounge boop my fingers and generally more curious about me (i let them get 100% peace during the day if they arent already crawling around) i dont even change their water during day time if they arent up, then i wait till the evening till they roam around and are awake- but they get fresh water every single day

Oh my gosh your channel is amazing! Whenever I was like wait what about- then you answered it!

I have a leopard gecko (one in my pfp) and have been using sand form the pet store and she absolutely loves it with her dark blue death feigning beetles.
Should I switch to this substrate? If so, how often would I mix it? Also considering if i bought a clean up crew. Thanks so much!

Thanks for the video, it was very informative! Question for you - Do you recommend switching to the soil and sand into in their young adult lives? My Leo is 4 and he's never been on anything other than reptile carpet. I don't know if it's too late to switch. Would it shock him? Could it cause health issues since he's not used to it? He hasn't had any major health issues. So I don't want to rock the boat if that make sense. Anywho, thanks again!

Dude life saver. I thought the dirt was imported or something that’s why it was so pricey 🤣

How often do you change out the substrate?

Switching my gecko to a 40 gallon tank. How much substrate is needed?

I bought a bag of that soil, and it seems like it's mostly dirty wood chips. It's the kind you have. Should I get something else?

Another great video. Question: I noticed that you don't add peat to this mixture, but do on your Bearded Dragon mix. Being that they are both Arid species, I wonder why the difference? Just didn't have peat on hand this time?

Do you no longer use peat moss? In an earlier video, you used topsoil, peat moss, and play sand. I know things change all the time, so I am wondering if I should no longer use peat moss.

With adding bioactive materials with isopods and spring tails, do you ever have to switch the substrate? And I was told to use a drainage layer at the bottom, but noticed you didnt mention that.

Is it okay if I mix top soil WITH reptisand?

Should I add water to any of the mixes? I know sand can absorb a lot of moisture in the tanks, same with coco fibers. How do you maintain the moisture levels?

I just got a bigger tank for my leo but Im scared to try soil or anything else since she’s been on carpet since she was only a few months old(about 5-6 years ago) Is it really okay? (I did once use bark wood chips before finding out those aren’t for leopard geckos😭) anyway I need any kind of help or advice so she can live her life to the fullest
