Everyone complaining that you don't know anything about bikes but isn't that the beauty, we're seeing a real guy put it together and making all the mistakes on our behalf. I think what's happening is these people think they're more knowledgeable and are jealous of your platform.

I have a TSDZ2 750w which i love, just wish it had a throttle occasionally and was a bit quieter. Would love to see you review the TOSEVEN DM01, the Z8 seems like not quite enough of an upgrade to warrant the effort/expense, despite having everything i require 😅

'That's not going anywhere' True manly words that make it secure. Great vid.

For someone who isn’t a mechanic, you’ve got an excellent workshop and set of tools

I’ve a 750 bafang, which I love, certainly enough power, had for 3 years, no issues. Mid drive definitely better than hub, weight more evenly balanced. Love your videos .👍

Pro tip: Put a small magnet on any allenwrench or screw driver and it will be instantly magnetic. Great video, I've been curious about these kits for a while 👍

Wife has had the TSDZ2 for around 4-5 years. Its on open firmware with 52V battery. Its been extremely reliable, transplanted between two bikes in that time. Glad to know there is a newer model that is still open firmware and torque sensing drive

I bought one after watching, amazing little kit & easy to take the speed limiter off.

To all of the commenters hating on his riding skills, give the guy a break, he is clearly not a young or fit man. He is a bit of a plonker, I will give you that, but he is giving it a go and that is all we can ask for.

I love how you're a "real, average guy" and you didn't censor out all your fumbles. I feel confident that I could install this and take it off-road myself as well, because I'm equally not a bike mechanic nor a skilled biker, thank you for an honest review from the perspective of an average unskilled user like myself. Screw the haters, I appreciate you.

Excellent quality of video. You say your not a mechanic but you have a brilliant workshop there! I only have the Bafang BBS01 but find it great even after 4 years...

That bike looks amazing just retired and would love a ebike, Used to build all my bikes as a kid looking for parts off of dumped bikes . In the 70s and 80s parts were everywhere only thing you ever had to buy were inner tubes and tyres😊 . You did a fantastic job

Thanks. I have had a Bafang 250W mid drive for 4 years and I have absolutely hammered it, I have wound all the parameters up to max, it is often pulling 900 Watts, it has been through plenty of deep puddles and light pressure washing and stood up to all the abuse. 5000 miles and still going strong, cheap enough to replace if I do kill it.
The Tongsheng will need to be good to be a Bafang killer. Fitting seems very similar to the Bafang.

PLEASE let us know in future how the mid drive holds up in long term compaired to hub drives based off your real experience

Your genuine reaction from your experience and exploration is what you do really well, hard to find other channels communicating this as well as you do

Thanks

Very comprehensive well explained guide.. looks an easy fit not too complicated for anyone with basic skills..and at a very reasonable price what’s not to like. Nice one Steve 👍🏻

I've got about 1600 miles on my one. the bottom bracket needed nipping up at about 500, but that's normal.
It's waaay more powerful that the TZSD2 and the torque sensing is even more intuitive, making huge fun to ride.
If you're happy with installing and doing your own maintenance, I'd recommend it :)

All what we need is range test. Good video!

These mid mounts are reliable and I had no mechanical issues with my bbs02. The engineering for installation however falls way short. 73mm bb leaves no more than a turn of thread on the lock nut which is hugely insufficient to secure a tight fit. The inner bb nut as you found out is only tightened properly with the bafang socket (sold separately and overpriced). Those 4mm chain ring allen bolts round off too easy and if you go too far with the Allen bolts that retain the triangular bb bracket you'll strip the thread and then you're fecked. I fettled mine after finding things out the hard way. I'm looking into hub motor options now as some little scrote thieved my bike (they got away with cobbled together motor fittings that'll be a bastard to fit well, but not the battery). good video so I'll dip in and check your hub motor content cheers
