Learning to drive and I need to back into my driveway like that. I can’t figure if I have to turn left or right and do you bring turn the steering wheel all the way?

So you don't need to turn your steering wheel all the way to the right, just enough to go around the curb?

Why on earth would anyone ever do this? I've been driving 40 years and never heard of this. Seems very dangerous. There will almost always be people behind you. Just turn around in a parking lot. When did they start requiring this on a driver's test?
