In my opinion, this is the ultimate underrated Stones album. "100 Years Ago" and "Winter" are among their best deep cuts!

I believe Goats Head Soup is a criminally underrated album in the band's discography. Suffers (unfairly) in comparison from having to follow up Beggars Banquet, Let it Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exile. I like it a lot! Trouble begins with It's only Rock 'n' Roll but they do recover with Some Girls, Emotional Rescue and Tattoo You.

Most underrated of all Stones records. Simply awesome. People say Beggars Banquet to Exile is one of the greatest consecutive run of albums ever and I won’t disagree but they left out this record! It rocks…so many deep cuts. I have the OG US pressing, the recent anniversary reissue and a UK original.

I have really come to like this album. For years I had viewed it as a disappointment, but it was obviously following some very heavy hitters! I agree it has a rather "hazy" sound.

And I love Star Star (Starfucker) in all its tasteless, tacky glory! Great Chuck Berry-inspired rock & roll, and really quite different from the rest of the album.

Oh, and the story about your dad doing that with the poster is great!

Wow, I think you lost your analytical powers here. This is a fantastic album. It’s ballad-heavy with cuts like “Angie, ” “Winter, ” “100 Years Ago, ” and “Coming Down Again.” If Exile was like a two day party, Goats Head Soup is like the come down for all those excesses.

USA vinyl has a sloppy overdub over the word "pussy" on Star Star. The CD doesn't have the overdub.

I'ts not a bad record but not great. I personally think they reached their creative peak with Sticky Fingers and Exile. I was just thinking if you add #vinylcommunity to your list you might get a few more views.
