Ask Professor Dave #2: Are You A Real Professor?

I get some variation of this question all the time. What's my degree in, where did I study, where did I teach, do I still teach, and so forth. I thought I would answer all of these types of questions all at once by telling you about everything I've been up to since college! You're probably getting to know me a little better than you wanted to, but tough tomatoes, we're friends now.

I tell everyone about this channel. I've gone through the basic chemistry and am going through the 165 math videos now. Its not for school.. I could never afford school. I'm 41 years old and you're giving me the ability to finally learn all the things I was denied by a pay wall. Thank you so much

Don't worry about degrees bro. Legends don't need any such degree for reputation or value. They earn value through their legendary work. You are a legend bro. And your work is legendary(which you are doing in youtube). Many people are getting such degrees, but many people are not becoming Professor Dave. You are benefiting SO MANY students around the world(myself included) with your digi classes with your easy way of explaining things. You are spreading knowledge, spreading it in a simple and easy manner. And knowledge should be always spreaded like this.. simple and easy, for a proper world. Yes, the world is not yet proper with the educational system. Education is knowledge. And if knowledge is fun to learn, only then we can learn it. It cannot be learnt if it is presented boringly and scarily. So you are definitely doing good work for the world. That is what is most important. Just keep up your good work sir. Remember, your work is not just good, it is IMPORTANT. And i will try to donate you in future to help you more.

my uni's dean of science ('actual' chemistry professor) links your vids when he taught chem in my BSc. That's more important than a professor title in my opinion; you're very good at what you do Dave.

I’ve learned more from Professor Dave than anyone else. I’m a 40+ high school drop out and I find it so easy to learn the way he teaches. If you happen to read this, Thank you Thank you Thank you Prof Dave

Prof Dave, I graduated from college (biochemistry) twenty years ago. I found your teaching memory-refreshing. Your are amongst the best professors both in real life and the virtual world. For someone who learned a little bit of chemistry, I know the superb clarity in many of your teaching contents is not to be achieved without an effort. Yet, you made it effortlessly- at least it seems to be. It's absolutely a great talent. And your animation is wonderful! I enjoyed very much watching your videos and learning! Thank you, professor!

I really hate when outstanding channels like this, don't have enough views and subscribers and other useless channels have been earning the views that your channel deserves sir. Thank you sir, you have been doing a wonderful job.

A degree doesn't mean you are more smarter than a person without degree.
You are a great teacher, you don't need degree to validate your knowledge and level of understanding. You explain things so much better than many of the Ph.D Professors at universities.

Thank you from a former music major turned biology professor! I share a lot of your videos with my classes. I wish everyone knew how much time it takes for you to put that material together. Just a simple recorded lecture takes hours and hours...and hours. I can't imagine how much time goes into the production of each video. I can say that with all of my other teaching responsibilities that I would never have the time to create the amazing materials that you have created. Your material has definitely improved the class experience for my students and I will be happy to contribute to Patreon.

You are amazing, Prof Dave. I teach A level Chemistry in English to Asian students and some of my students have low English level but your videos have helped me and are helping me to do my work with ease. Those animations in your videos are wonderful. You are indeed the real professor.

Start a second channel to channel your music passion. ProfessorDavePlays or something, if the music doesn't work, play video games on it.

I could never thank you enough professor Dave. My daughter had horrible Chem teachers in high school so she went to do a science degree at University with near zero Chem knowledge and at Uni she also got a Chem lecturer who simply could not teach. A lot of bright students failed Chem miserably that year. but because of your videos, my daughter and I put our minds together and learned everything we now know. I’m glad to let you know that my daughter was one of very few to completed Chem that year and with a 68 /100 mark. She completed her degree last year and now she’s doing her masters. Thank you x 1, 000, 000.

Professor Dave, you can do it! My story is similar, and I hung in there and finished my Master's. Now I can relax and play all the guitars I can finally afford.

I'm not sure what I was expecting when I clicked on this video, but a moving life story about continuing to try explaining science to people through different mediums despite multiple setbacks is not it. I am so glad you've decided to create this channel, and I could not give a shit whether you're technically a "professor" yet.
My mother dropped out of her PhD program with only her dissertation left to complete because she decided not to become a professor, but she has been a great teacher for me, my siblings, and all our friends growing up. Being a great teacher has nothing to do with your degrees, credentials, or place of work, and everything to do with YOU. And you, sir, are a great teacher.
I'm currently working on a pre-med degree and your videos are invaluable. I would be so anxious about my upcoming semesters of biology, chemistry, and physics if it weren't for your channel.
