I don't understand how the father had anything to do with it. How can he be held accountable for the actions of his son ? Does this mean that politicians and Court judges can now be held accountable for letting out violent criminals, who go on to reoffend?

I am solid 2nd Amendment but with many years in the military and as a firearms instructor I cannot see how a parent could give a kid that age totally uncontrolled access to that type of firearm.
