What's the dumbest "money glitch" you've heard of?

A generation of kids raised by video games. They think the “infinite money glitch” applies in the real world too.

Not only will this affect them now, Chase can let other banks know that person/persons committed check/wire fraud and ban them from making a checking account in any other institution. Also Check/wire fraud can be punishable by up to 20 or 30 years and a 1 million dollar fine.

Wow. My bank has a LIMIT of a whopping $200 that you have IMMEDIATELY ACCESS to regardless of the SIZE of the check you deposit. Hard to believe CHASE gives more. That’s so DUMB.

People do this with Chase, BOA, Wells Fargo and Navy Federal. I had a friend almost lose her account back in 2016 with this check fraud scam. People gotta understand that you can get blackballed from opening another account at any bank

Imagine being old enough to have a bank account and nobody in your life taught you this was wrong. Even if you think you're smarter then everyone else and dont use your own account, there are cameras everywhere, including one inside the ATM machine most likely.

I can't believe this vulnerability even existed. Chase's IT security staff failed immensely, and the criminal exploitation commenced!

I wonder if any of them will actually be prosecuted for this.

Insane that this happened in 2024. Back in 2000 I received a settlement from a car accident & simultaneously some people who were part of a huge fraud scandal got my information & printed their own checks/IDs with their photo but my name/accounts. They were able to drain approx 40k in less than 72 hours. I was out of town & upon my return to US found myself stuck in the airport because I couldn’t get my car out of the parking garage. It was a complete nightmare…why would anyone intentionally do that to themselves?!? Chase is going to be in trouble for their ignorance in this glitch.

I knew a guy (friend of a friend of a friend) who got scammed into check fraud in the early 2000s, about $5000, and I remember thinking "you really can't be so stupid as to expect this to work"

how it's supposed to be done on paper is you have access to someone's account that's unrelated to you. you go to another atm location that is unrelated to either of you and your target account. deposit the check into that account at that atm then withdraw the cash while being masked up so the camera can't recognize
