Amazing to find this! My wife dated this guy Bob Collins in Miami in 1973. She won the WMYQ beauty contest and was sent to LA to appear on The Dating Game. Then she moved back to NY and met me in 1974 and I was a jock on WPIX-FM. We married and have been together for 46 years.

Always a treat to find an aircheck from 96 WMYQ that I haven't heard before! Used to listen religiously as a teen. The station that inspired me to get into radio. Worked on the air in South Florida for 30 years. Thanks! The jocks, the jingles, and the intense compression were bigger than the music.

My favorite jock of all time from his time at WMYQ. I have an autographed pic of Robert L. and about a dozen cassette tapes of my own air checks on the man. I still can't listen to the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper without hearing a burp!

I got a aircheck from kcbq with Robert Collins, from 1969 ....He Wrote me a letter when I wrote to him, shortly later, he was killed in a helicopter crash . Which surprised me, Because I said for some reason in my letter, Becareful flying

I REMEMBER ROBERT L COLLINS AT WMYQ. ABOUT 15 YEARS LATER, AFTER I HAD MOVED BACK TO CHICAGO, HE DID MORNING DRIVE AT WGN (AM) 720 . HE WAS THEN CALLING HIMSELF BOB COLLINS AT THE ADULT STATION. HE WAS FUNNY, BUT NOT AS WILD ON THE AIR. HE WAS THE TOP RATED MORNING DRIVE DJ IN CHICAGO. BOB LOVED TO FLY HIS OWN AIRPLANE. SOMETIME IN THE 1990'S, BOB'S PLANE CRASHED ON TOP OF A BUILDING IN WAUKEGAN IL AND BOB WAS TRAGICALLY KILLED.

Everything sounds sped up...maybe the way it was recorded...I do not recall WMYQ speeding up songs in that era...later on 96X did...
