In The White Lotus, Albie presents himself as a typical nice guy. But is he really – or does he fall into the “nice guy” trope that can actually be problematic?

Albie sacrificing his mom’s happiness to manipulate his dad into getting what he wanted was truly sick.

That’s the whole point of his character, he was a representation of internalized misogyny dressed up as feminism. He sees women as victims because that’s of way his dad and grandpa treat women like objects at best, and like shit at worst. And when he throws his own mother under the bus in his effort to “help” another woman, it’s showing that he is only concerned about taking care the women he will get something from in return. At the very end there is a scene where a pretty woman walks by and all three men check her out; it’s driving home the point that these three men are all the same in the end.

All three generations of men in his family just use whatever strategy worked for them at the time.

I think Albie is young enough to have his eyes opened.
He is smart and sensitive, but clearly inexperienced with relationships. I think it’s possible for him to learn and grow. I’ve seen it with men like him in my own life

The key is wanting to be better, and the ability to put your ego aside and admit you may have been wrong.

Yeah after the scene with his dad, is where he really shows his true colors. The dad was right saying he was a mark

I was talking to my husband about this exact thing. He’s still using money as a transaction to get sex, even if he’s painting it the color of love. How can he love this girl, he barely knows her! Would he be just as comfortable helping her if he wasn’t having sex with her?

F. Murray Abraham? Usually I don't watch TV shows but I'm definitely tuning up for this one. He's such a fantastic actor, his role in Amadeus stayed with me forever. Last time I saw him during a school trip to cinema years ago and was crying he had to take such role in a degrading production. I'm happy he was rediscovered by the popular media. He's a gift from the universe.

I think the grandfather was the better of all three men. He didn’t lie like his son and he respected woman unlike his grandson. Even though he cheated he was always honest and upfront about it unlike his son.

There is no such thing as a nice person, but what is it that makes Albie so easy to attack, he acts nice to get what he wants but what's wrong with him wanting to get what he wants anyways, should he not ever want anything, is he not being honest about who he really is? if you can agree that no person is a complete saint then why complain when a guy is not nice just for the sake of being nice. Of course he is going to want stuff in return, this is a capitalist world, it turns us all into manipulators, we all need to act a certain way to get what we want, 90 percent of all interactions are transactions and most of them are deceitful. We all want to force our views to others one way or another and in his case he is just focused on creating a world in which his father and grandfather are not the winners, so he forces his feminist views on others. But I bet the real issue that women have with him is that he is using female manipulation tactics, how common is it for women to weaponize guilt and niceness, and to be nice just to get what they want, he is what women have tried to turn men into and women hate it.
