The officers were unimpressed in the moment. Mind you, I didn't attempt to fight or run. I let them finish their search of my vehicle and pretended to still be cuffed. When i was stood up and told i was no longer detained, I said "thank you gentlemen" and reached to shake their hands with my right hand and offered them the cuffs in my left. They were a bit ticked at first and gave me a rant about how it was vandalism to pick their cuffs. I offered apologies and denied that i had picked them and expressed concern over their equipment.

You seriously just saved me. I did a stupid bondage thing. The end of the key came off, and I couldn't get enough tork to use it. Fortunately I had one hand free already when it happened. Was trying to free my other hand for two hours.

Thank you, i lost my key and my cuffs were cuffed to each other. Funy story, a student found my cuffs once, put them on himself for fun and found out Ididnt have the key. He cried till my gf came home with my car keys which had my cuff key, oh he cried lol

OK here's a little story...I was arrested in Thailand and loaded into a big caged van with many other people to be transported to prison, long story. We was all handcuffed in a chain gang with shackles around our feet and hands all together in a line. While we was going to prison one fella took his sunglasses off and picked his locks so fast I thought we was in a film! I couldn't belive it, it was crazy! Then he picked the locks of the next few people and handed the glasses onto the next few people. They had a go and managed to pick the locks but took them a while. The first guy done it in literally a second like yourself. When we got to prison and backed into the loading area everyone was uncuffed and laughing at the guards, I think I peed myself a little scared 😂 didn't know what the F. THANKS! My boyfriend put on the handcuffs he just got and lost the key lmao, looked how to pick the lock, found this video and it took me less then a minute to pick it with a paper clip.

You may 100% attempt to escape ANY unlawful detainment, even if that unlawful detainment is being performed by a police officer.

so the double lock is just a security bar slightly below the lock; with a little practice you can push the bar back to release the double lock and then proceed with the main lock

I did do it when I was a teenager, handcuffed by cops, high schoolers I knew a little had pulled up in a car & asked if I wanted to go somewhere with them, since there was a couple girls in the car I figured, why not (?), we went around, smoked a joint or 2 & then one of the kids wanted to siphon gas, that was a red flag to me & as I was trying to convince the redhead girl to leave with me, the P0 p0 arrived & took us into custody, as evidently the car was stolen too, I was basically a witless joyrider ...
While we were handcuffed in a group in front of a hedge & more 50s were on the way, I managed to use the redhead's bobbypin to pick the cuffs, she & I slipped away with 2 of the cops on foot in pursuit- we were faster on foot & got away scott free ...
If not, yeah, more bindings & more charges would've been likely ...the police don't appreciate anyone picking their cuffs
