As a brazilian, I used to hate the World Cup, but now I love it. In the end, like you said, it's just fun, at least for us. It's a big party and brazilians can't take anything serious, like the 7-1, it's a great joke around here, like when you go through a terrible expierence, then you say: "Everyday a different 7-1!". I'm already excited for this year's World Cup. Great video, btw!

I couldn't help noticing that the picture of the ship you used to indicate the necessity for European countries to travel to Uruguay is the Italian Line's SS Rex; it wasn't launched until 1931, the year after the first World Cup. Aside from that, excellent video. :)

I'm not a fan of sport in general, more so when it comes to the World Cup. My country (New Zealand) has qualified just twice, and I believe we got knocked out in the first round.

You did alright! It is also worth mentioning that in europe we like it so much that every 4 years, offset by two years of the world cup, we have our own little european cup :D I believe south america has a similar competition with their countries

The World Cup was created because the American Olympic Committee decided not host a soccer tournament for the Los Angeles Olympics in 1932. FIFA then decided to create their own tournament, every four years, on even years when Olympics were not held.
