Loved the OG Renault 4. Just make it cheap and with a LFP battery. Dont need all the high tech, fancy doodads to drive up the cost.

I like this car, hope it’s affordable. My Dad had a 1969 model, with 850cc motor a dash mounted gear stick.

Fun fact - The original Renault 4 was not only sold in Australia, but also assembled in Australia too (Heidelberg, Victoria). Not too many people know this.

The original Renault 4 is a better looking car than this new version. What is wrong with car designers these days?

I think this will a better Jeep Avenger. Similar power and range, but better tech, materials and around 5000€ cheaper. I think Renaults 5 & 4 will force Stellantis to cut prices on their eCMP platform vehicles. The BYD Atto 2 (Yuan UP) and Skoda Epic also target this segment, but is unclear when they'll arrive, maybe they will wait to see how the market responds to the R5. If the R5 does well, not being a SUV, any B SUV will do better.

It's one thing this looks absolutely grotesque, but could they at least not fall into the same trap as Fiat and others and not name it the same as one of their old classics?

What about the Renault 5? Not planned for Australia. Current plan is in France. Would prefer rear motor rather than front motor. VTG is great. Should be standard across the industry.

Am I alone in seeing a somewhat DULL little car? Nothing like the original. None of its clever design traits. Basically a Renault badged Dacia... which in itself is no bad thing, but why go to the expense? ANY car can go 'off road', you only have to look at The Grand Tour (New Top Gear) taking wholly unsuitable old cars to completely outrageous places. Just give it plastic wheel arches and chunky tyres, and there you have an 'off-roader'. 2-wheel drive is enough-wheel drive, because virtually NONE of so-called off-roader buyer ever truly go off the beaten track. I'm surprised nobody has yet simply added a driveshaft and ordinary axle to the undriven end of an EV to give it on-demand 4WD... a bit like the old Renault RX4. Certainly cheaper than an extra motor. This little car will sell on price alone, nothing else (except the French, who will buy it because it's French, irrespectively). I'm genuinely surprised how expensive the Chinese offerings are outside China, which has stranded their sales over in Europe (actual, not just EU). I realise they're heavily taxed for protectionist reasons, but if sold at cost to establish the brands, they would create the market conditions that made them the go-to choice of vehicle type (EV). I read lots of excuses, but see no clever solutions. If Japan could do it back in the day, with Datsuns et al, then the Chinese ought be at least able to copy that plan.

It has nothing to do with the original one which I have driven much when I was 18 in a firm I was working for. Why revive something which is far from the original.Will Renault 4CV, Dauphine, 4, 6, 12 and 16 be revived, too .

Looks clunky and not very aerodynamic. EVs don't have that luxury, due to battery range constraints. Needs to be optimised for efficiency.

Range anxiety will not go away until EV´s get to true 500Km true as in the real world. Most only provide 200Km full blast AC and three passengers. If you´re lucky.
