What programs do you install when setting up a new PC? Other programs not mentioned that I immediately install include Plex, and OBS Studio... Sublime Text can be evaluated for free before you buy it. Currently, there is no enforced time lime for the evaluation... Thanks for watching :)

Correction: If you're a PC gamer, you should already have Steam."

For new PC's, I'm still a fan of PC Decrapifier, which is great at removing bloatware and similar packaged products.

File archiver might be important, since Windows integrated one might not "unzip" files you need. 7-zip being probably the most popular and completely free.

Mail client might be important to many. Thunderbird is the obvious choice for that.

Since you mention photo editing, you could've mentioned useful software for video (davinci resolve, shotcut, openshot) and audio editing (audacity).

Adding to the list of video players, mpv is pretty good, free and open source. MPC-HC might be no longer supported anymore if i heard correctly.

Some more programs to use on new PC:
1) Chocolatey. A package manager similar to apt for Ubuntu-based Linux distros. Works in console, but has an optional GUI which also can be installed with console. User can also create scripts to install required software, like with Ninite. And there's plenty more features for admins. It did replace Ninite for me as it has a lot bigger software library to choose from. First thing I install on clean PC.
2) 7-zip - must-have archive tool. Does very good job compressing files. I would also recommend WinRAR, but it's not actually free, so it's not going into this list.
3) foobar2000 - one of the best music players. Or even THE best out there.
4) nomacs - IMO simple but good image viewer. Default Win10 Photos app is garbage, and usually people do not need a lot of features for just watching photos. So, this is the best alternative to Photos app. There's IrfanView, XnView and so on, of course, but it's just a matter of personal taste :)
There's a ton more software that's great and free - but most of it is not basic and not needed by most users. Not everybody is a 3D artist to work with Blender. Not everyone needs Lightroom nor free alternatives like Darktable. There's also FileZilla, VirtualBox, Kdenlive, DaVinci Resolve etc.
