Indonesia is good when you don't set foot in Sumatra and West Java which are located in western Indonesia. The level of tolerance in these two areas is very low. In this region, especially West Java, is a place for gathering and developing organizations that often conflict with "Pancasila" which is the basis and ideology of the formation of the Indonesian state. But it didn't give birth to a terrorist organization because the Indonesian government is very strict about suspicious organizations. However, this area is still relatively safe for visitors.
Please note that the further east you go, Indonesian people are very friendly. Starting from Central Java, East Java, Bali, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara to Papua. But on the other hand, the further west you go, the less friendly the atmosphere will be. Northern Indonesia such as Kalimantan/Borneo and Sulawesi also have friendly and welcoming people.
Indonesia is a Beautiful place I hope you will visit us.
