Glad you found your passion again! Never hurts to take a break, but glad you're still continuing and chasing your dreams! This reminded me of interviews with Rodney Mullen talking about growing up mostly with flat land and that's what inspired his trick set. Just glad Longboarding is there to help get more people into the overall skateboarding scene. Great Vid as Always man!

I’m embarrassed to say this but I didn’t know that longboarding existed until I was in my 30s. You hardly see it in media (movies and stuff) compared to trick skateboarding. Started skating after that. (On a longboard.)

This is how I am with snowboarding now. In my early 20s my friends and I were all about the park, hitting jumps and rails and these days in our 30s, I’m 37, we’re into backcountry and carving. Such a wide range of things to do on a snowboard and it’s cool that skateboarding is the same. We spent lots of time skating too. We’d snowboard all day at the local hill then go skateboard all night at an indoor skate park 🛹

I almost said the exact same thing several years ago… “Why didn’t someone tell me there were all these other different styles?”
Growing up as a skaterat with the ramp locals had me thinking vert was the only way to ride a skateboard. Even when I saw Marty cruising around town in “Back to the Future, ” it never occurred to me that a skateboard could just be a form of transportation, or that cruising and sidewalk surfing was a thing. And then you had movies like “Gleaming the Cube” and “Thrashin’” and I still wasn’t getting it through my thick head that you could still be a skater even if you couldn’t ollie and were too afraid to drop in to ever properly learn how to ride a half pipe. It wasn’t until my late 30s that I really put it together, and realized that just riding a skateboard and having a passion for it was enough to qualify you. You don’t have to impress anyone, you don’t have to be so intense and serious about it. You can just enjoy yourself, because that’s what it’s all about. It’s just fun to roll down a hill, do some slappies on a curb, or even surf skating through the neighborhood can be such a rewarding experience physically and mentally. I’m so glad I gave skating a second chance, and I’m glad you did, too!

YES. I love this. I call it Adventures in Skateboarding for a reason. Initially i called it progression in Skateboarding. The push to progression took away from the fun for a moment. So i started to enjour the process, journey, adventure equally to the sucess. That changed everything.
And honestly isn't surfskating and ling boarding the closest thing to Dogtown amd 70s skating. It is "skateboarding."
All that being said, i am still trying to get some tricks too 😂.
