Maharashtra witnessed a close contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Congress-led Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) as counting of votes continued in the state. Among the key candidates, Union minister Piyush Goyal was leading from Mumbai North seat. NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s daughter and MP Supriya Sule was leading from Baramati, where Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra was trailing.

The exit polls were being proven wrong as trends for the Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election Results came in. The News18 mega exit poll had predicted a victory for the NDA in Maharashtra. According to the exit poll prediction, the NDA was predicted to win 32-35 seats, with 20-23 for the BJP. The INDIA bloc was expected to win 15-18 seats, with six-eight for the Congress, according to the survey.
