Wow. This works! I had a bag of old pens that I forgot about and they weren't riding. Just a couple seconds of a flame on the tip of the pens got them to write. Awesome. Thanks!

In case you dont have a lighter, you can use boiling water and place it in a cup. Dip the ballpen in the boiling water for about 1 minute and it should be fixed, if not then try scribbling with it in a piece of paper for a few seconds and it should be fixed after that. If not then dip it in longer and redo the process.

If this didn't work for you, (possibly)for future reference, I think it might be important to not put it under the blue part of the flame for the next pen you try

40 years ago, if you had a lighter in your possession in the classroom and the Teacher saw it, you'd get the "third degree" for about five seconds, until the teacher saw what you were doing. In those days, the kids would bring a lighter into the classroom, just for the shock value (it worked!) but after that, the TEACHER kept a lighter in his desk drawer, in order to start his failed--or new--pen. If it's a new pen, heating the tip (I'm told), breaks the seal. As previously posted, only use the flame for a second or two. It might be your last pen, until you buy some more!

lol, my pen won't write at all now .. I think there's something wrong with my paper because the pen will use ink on some parts but not on other parts.. It's like I've hit oil or wax and the ink stops connecting with my page..
