They'll build this quicker and cheaper than UK builds the countryside sections of its HS2 line

Now, it is certain the train from China will arrive in Nepal ushering in an era of peace and prosperity. Besides, Chinese trains are technologically modern and will be more dependable and efficient. I personally am looking forward to be one of the first passengers when the train finally arrives

So glad to see Nepal break away from the shackles of India. From then on Nepal will benefit from it's friendship with China and the use of it's China ports ports. It's a long time waiting for this to happen. Good luck and prosperity Nepal.

So long as they work at it, they will succeed ultimately.

I think china offered to build HS2 what a shame they didn’t as it would have been completely finished now at half the cost

They build railways for the benefit of their people. Having those railways and stations can bring more convenience to commerce and trade especially for small merchants in rural areas.

In the long term, it will bring more economic benefits. Hence, the Chinese really see and experience the fruits of the taxes they paid to their local and national governments. Unlike in the West where their taxes are used to kill people in Ukraine, Gaza and the countries they occupy.

Unfortunate for Nepal to have corrupt politicians, who are controlled by Indian and western bureaucrats and take order from them. So, Nepal can never take the benefits of BRI.

There is no doubt that both countries will gain from this rail connection though other factors regarding security will always cause neighboring partners to want to derail it. Nepal can surely gain through this connectivity to the rest of the Eurasian nations, though at the initial stage, Nepal may just gain from tourism because of this convenience. This a long could justify it?

The reason behind Nepal's hesitant attitude towards this railway connectivity is nothing more than 'dept trap' dissuasion by western countries and india who never wanted Nepal to be connected with China and to reap immense economic opportunities and benefits that will full fledgedly make the country in a position where it can pay back its debt to China.
Nepalese politicians and bureaucrats easily fall into prey by western and indian dissuasion for their collosal corrupt and poor sighted nature prioritising their individual gains before national interests and the western INGOs and indian agents are ever active in Nepal to get their job done, no wonder why a poor country's bureaucrats and politicians are so rich.

India oppose the train yet they themselves never help building train from delhi to ktm. Indian fear rapid chinese movement in war if road and rail wore to be build in nepal and himaliyan region. This is the reason why not just nepal but their hamalayan state near to china are backwards to this days. They even have national level policies not to build road on china side but now things has been changing. Having connection to china through is benefical for nepal and nepal, so called debt trap is western made words and indian use almost day and night taking about it 😂😂.

Do it even if it furthers Chinese ambition. At least SOMEONE has some these days... lol... And hopefully spurs other regional partners to step up their infrastructure game as well...

In Norway we have major problems with Follo-banen, 42 km long. But that's what you get when the governance is a kakistocracy!

It's 1'000 km long not 500 km! It consists of hundreds of tunnels and bridges. It's the largest human project under construction on earth currently!
