Wow. I didn’t expect this to be such a thorough and well done review! Great job. Good tire reviews are hard to find.

Tried the Mezcal (R) Barzo (F) combo last year. SOLD! So good!!! I may get the new lighter versions, and just go Mezcal f&r. If anyone reading wants more grip in the front, the Barzo hits way above its billed "xc" weight for grip.

I’ve been running 2.1 WTB Nanoraptor on my cross country bikes for 10+ years. They’ve been fast, light and grippy but I’m looking for a bit more bump absorbing volume these days so I just ordered a set of 2.25 Mezcals to try out. Can’t wait to see how they feel!

I’m thinking about running the Mezcal 2.6 on my EXe. I’m running Maxxis Recons now. I’ve always used light tires with good success.

When GMBN started using Vitoria tires I tried a set of mazza's and it's my standard now

4 months ago I went from 27.5x4 (fat bike) to 29x3 and I absolutely LOVE IT, but after a few months of THINKING i was a lot faster, and I was definitely faster on windy trails, I did notice on Strava that my times on certain segments still were not faster than when I had the fat bike setup, these were smooth straight sections where rolling resistance is key, so I decided that the 29x3 DHR 2 is still overkill for trying to get ready for a race, so I ordered the mescal 29x2.6. I had to go 2.6 as my rims are super wide at 50mm. I hope they are fast!!!! ill check in in a few weeks after they are put on

Don’t know if you’ve tried the Pirelli Scorpion XC RC Lites yet… definitely worth a try, very fast rolling, very light (650g - 29 x 2.4) and grips suprisingly well. I weigh 175 lbs and rode them 18 psi front & rear without any problems… and no inserts. 🙂

Vittoria isn't alone advocating lower tpi . Almost all of Schwalbe's higher end tires have 67tpi casings which they describe as optimal. Their higher tpi casings are only used where weight overrides other performance characteristics.

the new peyote is for gravel hard pack or also some loose gravel but not for going onto whet roots I guess. they look very specific

You should try the Barzo in the front with the Mezcal rear. Unless you're on wet rock, it's a great combination

Thanks for your review! How would you compare the new Mezcals to the Pirelli Scorpion or Aspen in 2.4 (if you have ridden them)?

Great video! I’m very interested in these.

Those weights are really good for a 2.4 and 60 TPI casing. How's the durability so far?

I like the Mezcals, seem faster than the Rekon Race's I had before...

Love your videos! What PSIs work best?

Thank you for the review. Do you run a liner in the front wheel, or only the back? I am a bit worried about sidewall durability.

What is the casing width of the Peyote on 30mm rims at 25psi?
