Across Kentucky, the depth of destruction from historic flash floods is coming into focus, and officials fear the death toll will continue to rise. NBC’s Maggie Vespa reports for TODAY on the devastation and Weekend TODAY’s Somara Theodore has the latest on the forecast.

Kentucky is home to some of the poorest people in the country! So sorry to see them lose what little they barely had. I just wish they would not build on riverbeds and in gorges that are magnets for flooding. Prayers from Florida! 🙏🏾

🚫 This is crazy. I'm 62 now and when I was a young teen around 17 through 19 I used to have reoccurring dreams of floods and sinkholes.
Now I'm seeing them all over the world in real time.

I'm currently just north in Allen city. Luckily we are high up. But there's a large field next to the river accros the street that's completely submerged almost to the train tracks. Probably 20ft deeper here
