➡️ Get garden planning and seed starting tips from Aaron Deacon of BIOS Nutrients on the latest episode of Digging in with gardenstead! Ready to start some seeds but not sure if the time is right?

🌱 Check your seed packet — it will give you all the info you need for timing
🌱 For example, your seed packet might say “start indoors in early spring over heat” (watch the episode for tips on using a heat mat)
🌱 'Early spring' will vary according to your gardening zone
🌱 So, know your zone and in particular the average last frost date for your region
🌱 The last frost date will help you to know when conditions will be favourable to transplant your seedlings outdoors
🌱 Your seed packet will also include information like: “transplant out when nighttime temperatures are reliably above 7˚C (45˚F)”
🌱 Make your plan according to when that sort of weather arrives in your area
🌱 Also, consider the timing of your harvest — your seed packet will provide ‘days to maturity’ information, and you can work back from there, time-wise
🌱 So, get out your calendar and start marking some dates!

🎙️Check out the full episode on our channel and get advice about what kind of seed starting mix to use, why grow lights are essential, how to take care of your seedlings and more!
