I would be interested to know what sort of questions to ask that would help people pitch a show.

How does a writer know what a network is looking for in a tv series? Who do you ask?

Is it possible for a person who hasn't gone to school for this type of thing
Is that person capable to pitch a idea for a show and get hired and make the show

Today's TV programs are pretty much crap with few exceptions. It looks like little thought goes into the storyline or even worse they all copy each other's themes. Where in the hell do they come up with some of these stories? Maybe the guys buying this crap because they believe their audience wants it should try some original but good material now and then. They might be surprised at the response.

Where in New York would be the best place to go so I can share a script I wrote up for the first episode of my show and the idea? Where I'm from is a small place, but want to move onto bigger things as soon as I graduate, New York is my best shot before getting too California. Thanks!

This might sound very ridiculous, but I’ve been very into the Twilight zone for a good portion of my life. I have watched all the original episodes, and I’ve even seen the new series of it by Jordan Peele. But lately I’ve been writing my own stories set in the Twilight zone (fan fiction you might say) but I have absolutely no idea on how to get into contact with anything like that to possibly have something discussed. My stories don’t even have to take place in the Twilight zone. But mentally when I’m writing it, I think of Rod Serling with his narration in the beginning and end of the story and whatnot. But one thing I do know is I’m very very big into anthology series. And it’s kind of been my dream to somehow get involved in TV. I just don’t even know the first step how to.

Then I do not want to pitch mine if I am just going to adjust my pitch to their liking. What ? so that I can get the job and make some money? Never mind the effort that I did to my pitch?

I feel like a lot of networks have a bad rep for "bleeding the show dry" tho, that's my main fear.

Nobody asked for Jimi Hendrix... Analytics and focus groups are the reason TV and movies are worst than we've ever seen.
