"Irregardless of" instantaneously made me think of people saying "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less". 😂 Also a very common mistake amongst native speakers, which really cracks me up as "I could care less" means "I do care to a certain degree", thus the exact opposite of the intended statement.

Other frequent mistakes, albeit a bit more advanced, include:

- mixing up the verbs "to defer" and "to differ" (or the verb/noun "(to) complement" and the verb/noun "(to) compliment");

- using the prepositions "than" and "to" with the adjective "different" ("from" is the only correct option);

- using the relative pronouns "that" and "which" interchangeably;

- mixing up the prepositional phrases "in case of" ("it might happen") and "in the event of" ("it's actually happening");

- using "like" (used to create a frame of reference: "Last year, she travelled to lots of different places like France, Germany and Spain." = She didn't go to those countries but visited places that are similar.), instead of "such as", used to list specific examples ("Last year, she travelled to a lot of different places such as France, Germany and Spain." = She was in France, Germany and Spain.)

Hi there, Wes! It was mind-blowing to realize the expression "10 itens or less" is incorrect, especially seeing even natives make that mistake. Kind regards from Brazil!

I’m going to try to apply a trip to the states this year after I get really fit again, which is probably in the summer. I’ve been wanting to go there forever. Ever since I was a child. Now that I’m 40 and my language somehow got improved during the years, and this couple of years I had your help on it, I’m becoming super confident in both writing and speaking, I think it’s time. Need to get better on grammar of course but I really want to visit asap and I’ll get better there, even if it’s just a two week trip. Thanks teacher.❤

Dear Wes love listening your classes, helps me broaden my knowledge as I work as interpreter spanish-english I had an issue on a call I wrote formula but verbally say leche The Dr said i heard formula not milk you should ask for clarification, here in Usa is formula, is baby's life, then asked me to repeat what she said back in English, i did it but she was going fast with her segments, so i couldnt catch everything what she said, the thing is that i love broaden my knowledge with you, and encourages me with my speaking.

Excellent video. Quite descriptive and useful.
As an addendum to the Latin shorts e.g. and i.e., those mean:
Exempli gratia: "given as an example"
Id est: "this is" of "this means"

It is a really very useful lesson! Sure. I have learned new things especially the difference between 'e.g and i.e' one is used for listing and the other for clarifying. Now, I can use them confidently and correctly. As usual, Teacher Wes thanks from my ❤️!

Good morning dear Wes
Another important grammar lesson and it inspires more. Double negative words are generally slip of the tongue and at times are pardoned. The other quotes are very much useful and thanks again.

I would like to avoid these mistakes but with no avail. These are simple mistakes and understandable and accepted. I haven't found out all of them in time but then I remembered back to the grammar rules you also stated. Thank you for the lesson.

Well, about those '10 or less'. I think people interpret it absolutely OK, as 'less' refers not to the items. It describes the amount in general as a single result of shopping. And 'amount' is uncountable here.
