How to Replace Kitchen Sink. Step by Step!

Replacing the kitchen sink is possible if your a DoitYourselfer... it's just a matter of being informed and prepared... literally! On this video I replace a double kitchen sink with a single basin sink. As always straight to the point without the unnecessary chatter... so that you can get the job done!

I did this two days ago. The clips are a bear, they are really hard to access. I had to beat the old ones off with a hammer, they were hopelessly rusted, and I finally had to create a special tool to get the new clips in place because the tight space didn't allow me to get my hands in there. Also, the new faucet came with 3?8" supply line connections, but my angle stops have a 1/2" thread, so I had to buy connectors to adapt, and of course one still leaks after several attempts with teflon tape. (Pipe thread compound will be next.) I strongly suggest unplugging the disposer and dishwasher as the first step, just in case, and life is much easier if you remove the disposer before lifting the old sink out. I'm still sore as heck after two days, but, Dearest now has a new sink and faucet, so it was worth it. I am sore, but SHE is THRILLED. Thanks for posting this!

Could someone explain when you put the silicone caulk? It seems like you should put the silicone under the seams of the sink BEFORE you drop it in. The way the channel owner explained sounds like you do it AFTER you drop in the sink. I think you can do that, but wouldn't the silicone be showing around the seams of the sink, even if you use clear silicone, so that would be visually unesthetic. Any tips?

Love this video I do have a question so you didn't have to buy any thing extra as far as extra lines you made this look so easy definitely a lot easier than the others videos I've seen, now I'm more comfortable with doing it myself instead of paying $300.00 to let a plumber do it thanks for the video

Good video. I'm a fan of using silicone in lieu of plumbers putty on the drain. Both work, but silicone seems to work best for me on keeping water where it should be.

I also want to change my dual basin sink to single basin. It is an under mount sink. Do you think changing it to top mount will make installation easier?

Great video great step by step. You did one thing wrong which I always find that everyone does. That rubber gasket that's on the disposal goes inside not around the plastic pipe. That round rubber gasket goes inside the hole and the metal flang goes around the pipe itself so you are compressing the plastic to the rubber inside the hole. It is very very important always read the instructions before you install anyting. He did a great job otherwise
