"I loved being a witch" had so much emotion and so many emotions all at once. Such a good use of a talent like Patti Lupone.

I think it’s really telling that the MCU’s best projects are the ones that take risks

Glinda tells Dorothy how to leave Oz. Lilia sacrifices herself so the others can get to the end of the Witch’s Road and leave.

This episode was insanely cool, it flawlessly mixed the "lets follow this one character for an entire episode" trope with the "lets tell this story out of order" trope.

that shot of lilia falling is just so beautiful and dramatic

I went into AAA thinking "I like Hahn and Plaza, that'll be fun at least". I had no idea what is turning into a new Holloween Classic. It's spooky and dark, is smart enough to know when to dial back the humor, and most of all, it's interesting characters who happen to be gay, not gay people as poorly written characters.

Patti Lupone *killed* it. And without singing a note.

I’ve been saying since Multiverse of Madness did Wanda dirty, Jac Schaeffer needs to be given the reins for the witchy side of the MCU! She has a real talent for the kind of mysterious, kooky stories and complex characters you can do with that

My fiancé and I actually were in tears. For us it reminded us of working with our elders who lost their minds to dementia. The “statement through the timelines” the fact she was saying one sentence and only fragments came through in each scene was so cool when they stitched it back together.

I'm so glad they went this deep with a character played by Patti Lupone. This episode surprised me in the best ways possible.

The whole episode felt like a movie. It even has a lot of cinematic shots you wouldn’t normally expect from a show. Reminded me of Loki’s last episode. It’s crazy that this $50M budget while Secret Invasion got over $200M.

I thought Caldaru as Glenda is a reference to the episode. She doesn’t go on the journey, she helps others on their journey.

Re: Jen losing her magic. It’s been made a point a couple times that she doesn’t know how she was bound without magic. Then in this episode, Lilia describes Jen as the High Priestess, who has “immense spiritual power, unable or unwilling to” use their magic. Perhaps Jen was traumatized and “bound” herself, and never actually truly lost her magic.

Billy as Maleficent: an uninvited guest who puts a birthday girl to sleep, vs an uninvited guest in an unconcuous bar mitzvah boy''s body.
Jen as the Evil Queen: pretty much both poisened thier customers in an effort to be the fairest.
Liiia as Glinda: both Burke and Chenoweth play her as someone who comes off as iinaffectual and complacent but ends up knowing excatly what's going on, like Lilia at the end of her trial.

11:20 Apparently what happened was that Jac pitched a few different ideas for shows, and they all included Agatha, so they were like "Well, if you've got so many ideas for her, how would you do a show centered on her?"

Turns out that was a great question to ask.

Besides the amazing buildup and explanation of her "slips", Patti really sold me on understanding Lillia's love:

Her love for her old coven which continues to haunt her after not being able to save them
Her love for Alice who who died because of Agatha
Her love for Jen, her sister in the craft and has great potential
Her love for Billy and the hardship he will face around his origin and power
Her love for her new coven, including Agatha, who have helped her understand herself
Her love for their future and giving them the "gifts" she bestows on them at the end
Her love and pride for being a witch and the enlightenment she has learned over the years

and ultimately a love and respect for Death which lies at the end for all of us.
With that understanding and bravery she sacrifices herself for them.

Lilia as the good witch is that literal, she is a good witch, she is a good person with good intent

this episode literally blew my mind. my expectations of this show were mostly even keeled but this was so masterful and had no reason to go so hard. if all marvel shows had a consistency of quality like Agatha then maybe the mcu would be in a better state. like wow

Give Jac Schaeffer the keys to the kingdom. This show is so good. Go Jac, make a Children's Crusade. Make a Midnight Sons. Make anything, I will watch.
