How to use Exposure for ANY Power and Conflict Poetry Question
Показать описание
GCSE P&C: Exposure Compares to Every Poem in the Anthology: AQA English Literature Paper Two: 14 Comparison Paragraphs!
This video is about how to compare the poem Exposure to other poems about power and conflict. The speaker of the video, Teach Smith, goes through each poem in the anthology and explains how Exposure can be compared to that poem. For example, in the poem Storm on the Island, there is no natural shelter and the soldiers cannot shelter from the snow and exposure either. In the poem The Prelude, a huge peak rears up on the horizon, which is similar to the melancholy army that builds up on the horizon in Exposure. In the poem Kamikaze, a different kind of power from nature tempts the pilot back home. In the poem Tissue, the sun shines through borders of maps, suggesting a more hopeful future. In the poem Charge of the Light Brigade, the commanders are exposed for their blunder. In the poem Exposure, Owen was a soldier and Hughes wasn't. In the poem London, the blood metaphorically runs down palace walls, which is similar to the idea of meaningless death in Exposure. In the poem Poppies, the mother is grieving her son, and there is a kind of lack of grief in Exposure because they have been dehumanized. In the poem War Photographer, the photographer is haunted by the pictures he has taken. In the poem Emigrant, the emigrant will not feel connected to her homeland anymore. In the poem Checking Out My History, Owen feels like the soldiers were tricked by propaganda. In the poem My Last Duchess, the Duke constructs his own propaganda.
In this video I explain how Exposure compares to all of the other 14 power and conflict poems in the anthology and I provide 14 examples of comparison paragraphs
