Wow I just had a job interview today for an assistant manager position. I practiced and wrote out what I wanted to say for a week and studied. The questions were a complete 180. I feel I still did well and decided last second to end with a heartfelt powerful statement on how I grew in the company and that the current assistant managers have built me up and inspired me to continue to advance in my current company. I gave them nothing but praise and them for always being there for me and believing in me as well as pushing me to be better and how I would like to prove myself to them and one day be that role model for an employee to help build them up and advance as well.

What about saying "*When* you hire me..." as an unconscious reinforcement of the choice (rather than making it be a question). Or do you find that terminology is offputting?

How to start the conversation when the interviewer only asks Yes/No type questions and skips some basic questions like "Introduce yourself", "strengths and weaknesses" etc. Well, I didn't miss the closing statement because it has to come from me. With regard to other questions, can I start the conversation.
