I like to use some extra cash towards stockpiling of items on sale to further stretch my savings- or add to emergency fund or a little fun as well.

My advice right now is to keep extra cash I won't go into why but this month it is especially needed.

My focus this year is saving so any leftover money will be going into savings.

Hi Dawn. What I have done for the past 4 years was take any extra cash in our budget & throw it out our money goal so for the first 2 years we were paying off our debt & for the last 2 years I’ve been doing the same thing for our emergency fund. As of last week we now have a fully funded 8 month emergency fund. Now the goal in 2021 is the throw everything at our retirement accounts & the kids’ college funds. It is so surprising how small amounts here and there add up to such huge savings!

I’m rebuilding my emergency/ household maintenance sinking fund with any spare money. I need nothing but fresh food presently. I’m on a “ no spend” journey this month.

Great share. We do pretty much the same as you. If we have leftover money in our grocery budget, we move it to a sinking fund for household essentials and that covers toiletries, paper products, and any thing that needs to be replaced or repaired in our house. If we have leftover money in our gas budget, it goes into a sinking fund for car maintenance or new car fund. 👍

My husband and I agreed that any left over cash in our envelopes at the end of the 2weeks I can use to buy what ever I want. And I do I am at DT buying so much do I need it no but I want it and I saved it so.

I usually toss leftover money into one of our sinking funds.

Left over cash is good if you make it work for you, like buy investments that will make you money and grow those investments year after year, the trick is how to do it. Now that would be a good subject to talk about at a later date.

I use the cash envelope system. I just started er fund for a year. I would but any left over money in that fund.

My hubbs and I decided to split any money left will be split between new sinking fund and paying off debt. Going to try our best to do a low/no spend January and February. We are blessed with a full pantry and freezer.

I started a new money stash area for my savings. January is my no-spend month this year. I'm considering trying to go longer to Spring, except for fresh veggies and fruits. If I extend my savings until year's end, just by tightening my budget belt, I hope to have saved at least $1200.

It would go to my Christmas Club. This is a ‘sinking fund’ for holiday spending.

But also I may do this: there are more people standing on street corners begging each weekend. So in a sandwich or gallon bag, I’d put $5 plus a treat, like chips, plus toiletries, like toothpaste and tooth brush or wash cloth and bar soap. These items are inexpensive at Dollar Tree. If I get stuck at a stop light, people beg for money. I’d be handing a bag out to them. Also a bottled water.

We are debt free, so any left over money we have goes to something fun! It can be an extra movie we rent to coffee at a coffee shop or a dinner out. Love a bonus video.

So I never have $50, but this month I had $10 and $5. I put the $5 towards hair and nails. I do this with all $5 and then I used $10 towards next month's gas for the car.
