We are delighted to follow up on the release of our new single ‘You Kill My Cool’ by sharing this fab video for the track, directed by the wonderful Blake Claridge. 'You Kill My Cool' is the latest track to be taken from our forthcoming fifth studio album set for release later this year (2022).

Following the departure of original drummer and founding member Josh Morgan, the band recently announced that new drummer Camille Phillips (The Ramonas) will become a permanent addition to the band’s line up. The band have also announced a run of Sep/Oct 2022 UK headline tour dates, with tickets on sale now.

Commenting on the inspiration behind the new video, director Blake Claridge said “So this is the first time I think this has been done in this way. Yes you could do it with big bucks; a studio build and a motion control rig, but that would have been a totally different shoot. Firstly you wouldn’t get that rig up 3 flights of stairs in a house.

To do this on a budget you have to think outside the box, no off the shelf product does this type of shot, so inspired by the rigs of the legend that is Tony Hill, I knew something was possible but just had to figure it out what. I’d always wanted to do something with a perpetual motion and in the end it was a butchered slider, many clamps, sand bags, a piece of rope, a lot of heavy lifting, a crash mat and throwing in a Roll Rig and I like to call it the “Drop-Cam” but for insurance purposes I don’t think it would catch on.”

Bio:

Formed in 2002, by now The Subways should need no introduction. Nearly 20 years into their career the band have had multiple chart-worthy album releases including Young For Eternity (2005), All Or Nothing (2008), Money And Celebrity (2011), and The Subways (2015), spawning a slew of hit singles including ‘Rock & Roll Queen’, ‘Oh Yeah’, ‘Girls & Boys’ and ‘We Don’t Need Money To Have A Good Time’.

They have toured with AC/DC, Foo Fighters, and Oasis, appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, and graced the festival main-stages of Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds, Lollapalooza, Download, Soundwave, Hurricane & Southside, Rock Im Park, Rock Am Ring and many more.

The band have worked with Nirvana and Garbage super-producer Butch Vig, as well as Blur and The Smith’s mastermind Stephen Street, and the band have appeared in several major films and videogames including Guy Ritchie’s Rock’N’Rolla, American smash-hit TV drama The OC, and Colin McCrae: DiRT 2, Saint's Row 2, Fifa Street 2, Forza Horizon.

The first track to be taken from their recently-completed forthcoming new album, ‘Fight’ was The Subways’ first release without long-time drummer and founding member Josh Morgan, who announced his departure from the band in October 2020, shortly after studio sessions were completed.

So strange, and sad, to not see Josh on that drum kit...especially after seeing him bang it out on them, ever since seeing this band for the first time on a US late night talk show, way back in 2005 or maybe even 2006, I believe it was. After seeing them perform Oh Yeah that night, I immediately went out the next day and purchased Young For Eternity. After that, I was hooked and have purchased each album when available, and gotten to see them live when possible as well. I love this band, and even though I understand change has to happen in life, for whatever reason when it does occur and whether you want it to, or even like it, it still sucks and pulls at the old heartstrings. I wish Josh the best though, most definitely, really loved to watch him drum. I also wish this band the continued success that they so rightfully deserve, and continue to look forward to the creation of even more awesome music from them in the future. This is 1 band that I'm proud to say, I don't dislike 1 song they've ever recorded, and that's tough to say for a lot of bands. 🙂🤘
