Listening to Philip’s side, you can tell he genuinely believes every word he says, & that’s what makes him so dangerous. Caleb might’ve been the same way before he met Evelyn. He followed her, saw the truth about witch-kind, & fell in love w/ her. By the looks of things they even had a child (you can’t convince me that the Clawthorne’s aren’t descendants of the pair). Philip had none of that. As the younger of the two, he was much more impressionable when they arrive in Gravesfield. This means that the extreme practices of the town had a stronger hold on him. That itself doesn’t make him evil. What does make him evil is his refusal to change his mind, & willfully ignoring the fact that he’s a massive hypocrite.

Philip is like an anti villain. His motives are something that we know of that’s from a time when we were ignorant, but Luz is right. After everything he’s done, he’s barely human himself. He’s nothing more than a freak of nature that was once a human being.

Watching this live, I kept saying to myself, “ain’t no way they made Belos Springtrap”

What entertains this thought to me is I like to think this isn't just the imagination of Belos from the stress, this is the actual Spirit of Caleb haunting Phillip. He knows that Hunter won against Phillip, he knows he's fighting back. That's why Belos still refers to Hunter as Caleb every once in a while, especially in defiance. He still see's betrayal of his brother over and over. And he's still in denial. Caleb knows it happened again, and now he's not even here to rub it in his face, he's just disappointed that the bastard just Won't. Let. Go.

Damn, assuming that really was Caleb, it makes you feel even worse for him seeing that he knows what his brother has become. So much was being said in this scene without a single verbalized word. That was such a perfect mix of sadness/disappointmenton his face, and when his eyes followed belos to the ground that look he gave him was such an ice-cold lack of pity I could clearly picture him thinking, "You brought this on yourself".
