A Ukrainian sniper, armed with a Horizon's Lord rifle, has set a record for the longest sniper kill. The key to this achievement is the special type of ammunition they used for the long-distance shot.

As a person who practices shooting scoped rifles, his assumption of luck on his equation is very true… thats almost 4km and the bullet took 10s to get there… its really next to impossible feat… good job to the sniper!

In WWI, the snipers of the Allied armies often used the Warner & Swasey prismatic sight. To get the elevation required again we are seeing the use of sophisticated prismatic sights on sniping rifles, a century on.

Would have to be one hell of an optic to be able to see the target at that range

If you have a system capable of punching a lethal round out far enough in a war zone, sooner or later someone is going to get hit at a ludicrous distance. It's just like the ludicrous trick shots you see on youtube. Sooner or later, someone is going to nail that shot. Doesn't mean he's doing it every time...

Not a game changer, But certainly instills fear among all Russian frontline troops. Your number could be next on the snipers bullet. Especially at night, when who knows where the shot came from....

Why is The Sun so afraid of showing the ( supposed ) hit.

The lenses also greatly improved but the ammo is on a whole new level

The previous record holder, a Canadian from JTF2 shooting in Iraq, used a prism as Jonathan describes here.

This one talks about a rifle that existed in ww2 PTRS41 anti-tank rifle without optics. same caliber 14.5 mm. I'm more interested in how strong the optics are on this rifle when you can target a man at 3800 m. If it's only 25x magnification I say it's that's an impossible shot. And if it's true, then he was lucky.
