Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs came out of nowhere in the mid-60's and stormed the world with their hit "Woolly Bully". All Xmas dances, New Year get-togethers, birthday parties, at homes or clubs, all seemed incomplete till Woolly Bully blasted through 60's loud-speakers [as they were then called]. The song was jokingly referred to as "one that could make a dead-man walk". One just came to life listing to its infectious beat and even those with two left-feet got up and shook whatever they had. The group was also featured in the Connie Francis film "When the boys meet the girls" [1964] belting out another top hit "Monkey See Monkey Do".

Man, Sam the Sham could really wail !!!! Love this guy. Seems like he should have / could have had much more success if he had hooked up with a good producer/songwriter to generate more material for him.

WOW!!! I am 73 and the first time I heard and danced to this was over 35-40 years ago. I like the idea that this was in Black & White....this puts this in the area it should be...Add to this the costumes the band wore, Recorded in "High-Fidelity"....I love it.

Takes me back to 1965 when I was a Mod here in England with a Lambretta scooter and all the gear plus the Ready Steady Go TV show on a Friday night with all the latest music and trends. I still have a vinyl copy. It's a happy record and I still love it.

Saw them perform outdoor at the California state fair about the time this was released. 100 degrees and the guys played their hearts out in those heavy outfits. Great show and great memories
