👇🏾About this post
Have you ever wondered how hard a plank can be? Well wonder no further, cause the answer is pretttyyy freaking hard, no joke.
Turns out some Plank positions are not beginner friendly at all - not saying any of you calisthenics monsters are beginners....
So here is how you get there 👆🏾 frome where you are now... if you haven't cracked the "abdominal demolisher" yet (that's how I call it cause I can still feel it today)
✅️ The further apart your hands are from your feet the harder the exercise becomes.
✅️ Moving your hands further up requires more muscle tension to keep that beautiful body of yours from crashing down like a home with a shakey foundation.
✅️ Start in the classic plank position, hands right underneath your shoulders. Keep them there!
✅️ Now inch backwards with your feet. one step and hold - check how much tension is required and if you can muster it up.
✅️ Step back another one and then another one untill you can only hold it for a single second - that's your limit.
✅️ Remember how far apart your hands and feet were? If that's your limit bring them a tiny bit closer. If you can hold the position for 5-10 seconds max - then that's the position you'll start practicing in.
✅️ Follow the holy principle of progressive overload - increas time under tension until you can comfortably hold this postion.
✅️ You've done it - the hardest plank.... Just kidding - once you can hold it comfortably move even further apart and do the hardest hardest plank... we're not amateurs here.
Drop any questions in the comments and I'll get back to you!
As always it was more than a pleasure knowing you joined me for a couple of seconds 😁
Much Love
