Yes Paramount has brought out yet another Spongebob Movie against the creator's wishes and this time it's a spin-off as well! SAVING BIKINI BOTTOM (a sandy cheeks movie) is a new take on a protagonist that puts Spongebob into the sidekick role, and gives everyone else shared screentime with humans on the surface world. And as the movies have slowly pulled us out of the water more and more, this time we've gone full on with most of the film taking place in Texas. Prepare to meet Sandy's relatives, strange texan villains, and easily the worst Spongebob villain of all time! As well as all sorts of other oddities that really didn't work. The first SpongeBob movie is a classic, I actually enjoyed sponge out of water. The last two movies makes me wonder y they’re still milking this franchise

I watched this earlier today with my little sisters (given how I heard about the fuss when it leaked), and while they’re both 4 and 5 and don’t get the film’s issues and the disses it throws as SH’s legacy, I could not believe how anyone who worked on this looked at the final product and said ‘Yeah, this is good!’. The writing is stale, the VA work is lacking, the VFX are cheap, and overall this just feels like Nickelodeon are trying as hard as possible to dumb Spongebob down as much as possible so that Gen Alpha kids who have low attention spans will give it undeserved love. And it hurts to see, it really does. I know I sound like an echo here, but the fact is, SpongeBob just isn’t working anymore. Nobody who’s working on it cares about the characters or beloved world building in any way shape or form. This is easily the most uncanny product of the entire franchise, it was such a baffling watching experience. 😵‍💫

I don’t know, feel free to disagree, but I think this is the lowest low point of the SpongeBob franchise so far.
