The issue with energy is that it needs to get from the point of generation to the point of use, and it gets weaker the further it travels. So you have to produce a lot more energy than you actually use.

Here's the thing- "free energy" exists. There is energy surging all around you right now in the form of microwaves, UV rays, x-rays, etc. However, its not nearly enough for our power needs. Anyone proposing that energy sufficient enough to meet our power needs could be sent through the air does not understand physics.
